Marc Shiliro's Classic Cars
You're looking at another beautiful classic car listed by MS CLASSIC CARS!
1972 Avanti II Stinger Custom "Avanti X"
Hello, I’m Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS.  You might recognize my name or my business name from beautiful classic cars, trucks and motorcycles I’ve collected and sold nationally.  I’ve got over 20 years of classic vehicle experience.  I’d like to put that experience to work for you.  I’ve learned a lot and I’m educated in many different makes and models ranging from the early 1900’s to current.  Over the years I’ve collected and sold over 400 classic vehicles which I’m very proud of.  I sell a large percentage of my inventory from networking and from the various websites I advertise on.  I sell a small percentage of my inventory at various auctions such as Barrett Jackson.  I’ve set over 15 world record prices on various makes and models.  I’ve also featured many classic vehicles at different auctions across the United States. I’ve had many vehicles that have been featured in multiple magazines and multiple websites.  I specialize in beautiful classic vehicles that are at a higher level of quality than most being advertised for sale. I collect classic vehicles that are already completed and slightly redesign them, service them and detail them. I have also coordinated restorations from start to finish.
The MS CLASSIC CARS showroom is located in Seekonk, Massachusetts and was established in 2012.  The MS CLASSIC CARS service department and multiple storage facilities are also located in Seekonk, Massachusetts.  The MS CLASSIC CARS operations are closed to the public.  A private viewing of a vehicle can be made scheduled by appointment Monday through Friday.  The MS CLASSIC CARS inventory consists of roughly 40 classic cars and trucks that we own, service and detail.  We’re one of the only dealerships who document the service work we do to every vehicle with an invoice.  Each vehicle is presented with detailed descriptions and multiple photos.  We offer no consignment inventory.  When you call you deal directly with me. I know each vehicle well and will go over the vehicle of your interest in full detail.  I’ll also assist you with any other needs such as trades, financing, insurance or shipping.  I promise to make the process from start to finish easy and enjoyable.  I take a lot of pride in my business and my reputation reflects that.  I appreciate the opportunity to earn your business.  “MS CLASSIC CARS isn’t just another dealer.  MS CLASSIC CARS is a brand.”

I've been collecting classic cars and trucks for over 15 years now and have seen a lot happen. I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only on the internet and auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially classic cars.  These people aren’t just one age group but all different ages ranging from very young to very old.  It’s a much diversified market.  I've learned it's not just people in the United States but its people all over the world.  Roughly 20% of my sales are from people who live outside of the United States.  Some examples would be Canada, Australia, Mexico and Europe.  Also from what I’ve learned roughly 20% of bidders at auctions are also  people who live outside the United States.

Over the years I've noticed that the higher quality classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Over the last 10 years the overall market has been very strong and I believe it will continue to grow.  Certain classic cars prices are on the rise and others are on the decline.  It’s all about supply and demand not about a good or bad economy.  The classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people want but there aren’t many on the market for sale.  The classic cars that are on the decline are the cars that a lot of people don’t want anymore and there’s many on the market for sale. Of course, if the car is a rare model and spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. Desirable factory correct classic cars that are documented with matching numbers always make solid investments.  Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character and there worth what people are willing to pay.

Prior to this business I was just a blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz.  I was very passionate about classic cars and trucks so I decided to sell them part time.  Although I had my used car dealer’s license I didn’t have my own dealership.  Overall things were going just fine but my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership.  I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership.  I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen which required using my family’s savings and acquiring loans such as a home equity line of credit.  I also now would have a lot of overhead that I didn’t have before.  The bottom line is I went all in.  Do you think I would’ve done all that if I didn’t think the classic car and truck market wasn’t going to remain strong?  “I’m putting my money where my mouth is”.

1972 Avanti II Stinger Custom – “Avanti X”

Rendered by Hot Rod designer Eric Brockmeyer!

“You’re now about to witness the strength of street knowledge”!

This magnificent 1972 Avanti II Stinger Custom “Avanti X” is a one-of-a-kind classic car that was a collaboration design by Terry Stinehelfer and Eric Brockmeyer. The vision of the design by Terry Stinehelfer was to create the car that was never built by the Avanti Motor Corporation. It was rendered by famous Hot Rod designer and artist Eric Brockmeyer. The idea has truly come to life in this full size “Hot Wheels”! Many modifications were made throughout the build process that separate this Avanti II from any other Avanti II. The stunning exterior was finished in DuPont Lemon Mist over Cosmic Dust with Matte Black accents. The rich black leather interior is loaded with options including a power sunroof and power windows. The car is powered by a GM Performance 383 V8 w/ 425HP and a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Since completion it’s only been driven 1,557 miles. This car attracts serious attention and is an absolute blast to drive!

As the original Avanti Motor Corporation Factory Line Setting File Copy and Car Invoice indicate this 1972 Avanti II 2-door sedan was sold to Jesse Jones of the Glenroy Construction Company, Inc on February 24th, 1973. The new car description is Saturn Bronze Firemist paint, Butterscotch genuine leather trim, Medium Brown suede inserts, Black walnut shag carpet, 400 V8 w/245 HP and 4-speed manual transmission. The car was equipped with the following options: power steering, tilt steering wheel, Hurst 4-speed shifter, electric sunroof, air conditioning, electric windows, sunband in front windshield and rear window, tinted side windows, genuine leather interior, luxury carpets, AM-FM stereo radio, internal control mirror, rear window defogger, Lucas fog lights, twin traction differential, Mag “500” wheels, door and fender protectors and cruise control. The original MSRP and purchase price was $11,561.70. This was a very expensive car in that timeframe. The Avanti Motor Corporation Factory Line Setting File Copy, Car Invoice and Supplement to Avanti Owners Guide are included with the sale. As original miscellaneous service invoices document this car was with the owner until at least 1978. In 1982, it was owned by a lady named Cecil Schapera from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1998, it was owned by a gentleman named Max Mccandlish from Thornville, Ohio. In 2006, it was owned by a gentleman named Terry Stinehelfer from Bucyrus, Ohio. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car from the Estate of Terry Stinehelfer in June of 2020. MS CLASSIC CARS would like to dedicate this car to Terry Stinehelfer who deserves the credit for this one-of-a-kind classic car. Terry Stinehelfer – The man with the plan.

“Stinger to join Avanti Lineup – Avanti Motor Corp. has announced plans to produce the Avanti Stinger, a special performance version of the Avanti II. Nathan D. Altman, president, said the new special-order model, named for its new Corvette Sting Ray engine, will offer a complete performance package as standard. Included will be the 350 cubic-inch Corvette maximum performance engine, the Hurst 4-speed shifter, a performance exhaust system, twin-traction differential and power steering.” - From a non-verified advertising source. A copy of the ad is listed within our photo gallery and a hard copy is included with the sale.

In or around 2008, Terry Stinehelfer decided to design and build the car that the Avanti Motor Corporation never built which is indicated in the above text. He spent many hours designing the car. Photos of this car with the changes he wanted to make are pictured within the gallery and included with the sale. On January 1st, 2009 he officially wrote and sent instructions with payment to Eric Brockmeyer of Eric Brockmeyer Design to render his design “Avanti X”. The letter, designs and renderings are included with the sale.

By Sema Editors:
“Eric Brockmeyer was named Goodguys 2016 Trendsetter during the 2016 SEMA Show. The Goodguys Trendsetter Award is presented annually at the SEMA Show to recognize rising talents in the hot-rod and custom-car scene. Brockmeyer began his rise and steady career arch to the top of hot-rod and street-machine design from the time he was a kid building models, hot rods and drawing cars. Convinced he could have a career as a designer, he enrolled in the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, graduating in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design. Though his first professional design job was with Sea Ray Boats, his true passion and hobby was designing hot rods. He got so good at hot-rod design that the late Boyd Coddington came calling in 2003 for help in designing a Model A Tudor to be named the “AlumaTub.” That went so well, Coddington commissioned him to design the “French Connection”—a hand-built concept custom based on a ’39 Delahaye. Soon after that, hot rodding’s elite builders turned the look and feel of their coming attractions over to the keen eye and skilled pen of Eric Brockmeyer. Since going to hot-rod and street-machine design full time, he has created the illustrations, style, interior and color schemes of three Goodguys Street Machine of the Year winners, a Goodguys Street Rod of the Year and a Ridler Winner, as well as Goodguys giveaway cars. Throughout his journey, his wife Pam has been there and was initially responsible for convincing him to make the leap from corporate designer to full-time hot-rod illustrator.”

The exterior of this car is absolutely stunning to say the least. It’s truly a life size “Hot Wheels” with its one-of-a-kind design. During the build process many modifications were made to the fiberglass Avanti II body. The upright turn signals in the front fenders were removed and smoothed. The front turn signals are built into the grille. The front bumper mounting bump holes were removed and smoothed. The side marker lights were removed and refabricated. The door handles were removed and a different style door handle was added. The rear bumper mounting bump holes were removed and smoothed. The rear taillight bezels were removed and the lenses were molded into the body. The rear back up lights were removed and smoothed. The rear exhaust was relocated through the rear lower valiance. The body panels were made extremely smooth during the build. The body is really straight with excellent gaps lines throughout. The car was then finished in DuPont Lemon Mist over Cosmic Dust. This stunning color is loaded with flake and sparkles like a diamond. The paint is show quality throughout and virtually flawless. Custom graphics were placed on the front and rear end. The color was complemented with Matte Black accents throughout which include the cowl stripe, hood stripe, side body stripe, window trim, headlight buckets, driver’s side mirror and door handles. The words 370 Horsepower were stenciled into the hood and the words LT-1 were stenciled on the side body stripe. The hood is held in place with custom black hood pins that work operate very nicely. All the exterior glass was replaced new with PPG tinted glass which looks great. The driver’s side rear quarter functioning gas cap and filler was decorated with a Stinger along with red, white and blue surrounding colors. The car has a perfect stance on American Racing AR-500 wheels that are 17x8 on the front and 17x9 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with Diamond Back Classic Redline 235/55/17 tires that were added in 2017. This is one sweet looking street machine!

The rich black leather interior is absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. This high end interior was so well designed and feels great when you’re sitting behind the wheel. The headliner was wrapped with leather including the power sunroof cover. It’s equipped with two rear dome lights that are both in working order. The sun visors have also been wrapped in leather. The dash was sent out to ‘just Dashes” be restored and looks amazing. As the receipt documents the dash restoration alone was $2,091.00. The backside of the glovebox has an area for cups. The full length center console is also equally as amazing. Both the dash and the center console are dressed with brushed stainless that gives the interior character. It’s equipped with a total of 11 Stewart Warner black face gauges between the dash and the console. It’s equipped with a Flaming River tilt steering column and a Lecarra wood steering wheel with functioning horn button. The console is also equipped with custom switches such as the push button start, power sunroof and electric cut outs for the exhaust system. The console also houses the Hurst shifter with white shift knob. The door panels have been covered in leather and look awesome. It’s equipped with power window switches and billet door handles. The rear panels have been covered in leather as well. The OEM Avanti bucket seats have been recovered in rolled and pleated leather that matches part of the dash. The rear bucket seats have also been recovered in rolled and pleated leather. The rear shelf has the letter “X” embossed in it. The carpeting is a thick high end material that looks and feels great. The trunk compartment was completely boxed for a clean look. The front panel is rapped with the same matching leather material as the rear shelf. The remaining part of the trunk is covered in the same carpeting as the interior. This interior looks way ahead of its time!

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many upgrades throughout. The back side of the hood, firewall, inner fenders and radiator support area was finished in satin black. The car is powered by a GM Performance 383 V8 create engine that is rated with 425HP. The receipts for this engine are included with the sale. The engine was dressed to look like a period correct Corvette LT-1 370HP engine that the Avanti Motor Corporation was planning to use in the high performance Avanti Stinger. The block was painted orange with Corvette valve covers and air cleaner. Some engine components include a Edlebrock Performer intake, Holly Street Avenger carburetor, GM Performance distributor, March Performance pulleys and Weiand water pump. It’s equipped with a super mini 74amp alternator and Braille battery with power cut off knob. The engine is cooled by a large aluminum radiator with Spal electric fan. Evans Coolant was used when it was installed. The engine breathes through Hooker “D” headers and a custom exhaust system with cherry bombs and electric cut outs. This exhaust system sounds awesome with a capital A! The engine is coupled to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It has a new Centerforce clutch and the shifter was modified to look like the way a factory shifter would have looked in the 1970’s.  This car is lightweight and setup to pound the pavement!

The undercarriage is very clean and nicely detailed with many upgrades throughout. The underside of the body was finished in black and looks very presentable. The entire power steering system has been rebuilt and works great. To give the unique ride the right stance lowering springs bring the car down 2” in the front. The rear was also lowered 2” but this was done by using a Jim Weimer’s Rod Garage rear 4 bar and sway bar lit with Aldan All American coil over shocks.  The power four wheel disc braking system consists of a 9” Delco booster, aluminum master cylinder and ST 11.65” drilled and slotted rotors. The words Avanti Stinger were painted on the calipers for the extra touch.

***MS CLASSIC CARS purchases beautiful classic vehicles that we’ve serviced and detailed unlike most classic vehicles that are currently being advertised for sale.   This is documented with an invoice pictured below.  Please understand every vehicle needs something.  Some vehicles just need a lot more than others.  At MS CLASSIC CARS we take eliminate the surprises.  We’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. ***

MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $1,590.34 servicing this vehicle including the parts and labor.  An invoice is pictured below that documents everything.  MS CLASSIC CARS also invested $600.00 in detailing the vehicle from top to bottom.

Unfortunately most classic vehicles that are being advertised for sale by dealers, private parties and auctions aren't exactly what are being advertised for sale.  This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different.  The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages.  Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration.  An example would be a classic vehicle that's  being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc.  Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored.  There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components.  The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale.  A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly!

MS CLASSIC CARS specializes in beautiful classic cars and trucks that are at a higher level of quality than most being advertised for sale. I personally have selected these vehicles and take pride in what I represent.  I'm not a classic car dealer who is only looking to make a quick buck.  I’ve seen dealers and private parties purchase classic vehicles at auctions and online and immediately list them for sale.  Most of these vehicles aren’t being advertised correctly and haven’t been serviced or detailed.  This business is my career and reputation which means everything to me.  I do the best of my ability to represent quality classic cars and advertise them honestly.  To be clear I’m not in the restoration business.  I represent classic vehicles that have already been restored.

This vehicle is owned by MS CLASSIC CARS and is located in Seekonk, MA.  I personally have seen, touched and driven this vehicle.  This vehicle has been through a service and detail process which is documented with an MS CLASSIC CARS invoice.  I write the descriptions, take the photos, advertise them for sale and answer all the calls and emails.  I'll personally go over the entire vehicle and tell you everything I know about it.  I'll also give you my opinion if it’s truly the right vehicle for you. I’ll consider all trades and also offer financing if necessary.   Once you've committed to purchase a classic vehicle from MS CLASSIC CARS, I’ll make it a very easy process from start to finish.  Once the funds have cleared I'll immediately mail the paperwork USPS 2-day air.  A CD with the description and photos of the vehicle you purchased will be included in the package.  I’ll also assist in shipping your vehicle to its new home.

If you've read the introduction tab or visited my website you’ll probably agree I'm a bit of a perfectionist and represent very detailed classic vehicles. MS CLASSIC CARS has a great reputation and we continue to raise the bar in the classic car and truck world.  I sell our classic cars and trucks very quickly because consumers see the value.  I look forward to working with you.  Please read my website testimonials and eBay positive feedback.  Thank you for the opportunity!
