Hello, I’m Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS.  You might recognize my name or my business name from the beautiful classic cars, trucks and motorcycles I’ve collected and sold nationally.  I’ve got over 25 years of classic vehicle experience and continue to learn more every day. I’ve learned a lot and I’m educated in many different makes and models ranging from the early 1900’s to current. I specialize in beautiful classic vehicles that are at a higher level of quality than most being advertised for sale. I only collect number one and number two condition vehicles that are already completed. We slightly redesign them, service them and detail them. I have also coordinated restorations from start to finish but don’t do this anymore. Over the years I’ve collected and sold over 600 classic vehicles which can be seen on the company website sold page. The vehicles are sold to previous customers, referrals and are sold from advertising on various websites, online auctions and live auctions. We’ve featured many classic vehicles at different auctions across the United States. We’ve had many vehicles that have been featured in multiple magazines and multiple websites. I’m proud to say that MS CLASSIC CARS has accomplished some great things with our vehicles over the years. People recognize value in our vehicles and doing business with us. The MS CLASSIC CARS showroom is located in Seekonk, Massachusetts. This location was established in 2012. The MS CLASSIC CARS service department and multiple storage facilities are also located in Seekonk, Massachusetts.  The MS CLASSIC CARS operations are closed to the public.  A private viewing of a vehicle can be made scheduled by appointment Monday through Friday.  The MS CLASSIC CARS inventory consists of roughly 50 classic cars and trucks that we own, service and detail.  We’re the only dealership in the country that services every vehicle we sell and documents it with an invoice. I stand behind every vehicle we sell.  Each vehicle is presented with a detailed description, 150+ high quality photos and a video.  We don’t offer consignments.  When you call you deal directly with me. I've been collecting classic cars and trucks for over 25 years now and have seen a lot happen. I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only on the internet and auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially classic cars.  These people aren’t just one age group but all different ages ranging from very young to very old.  It’s a very diverse market.  I've learned it's not just people in the United States but its people all over the world. 

Over the years I've noticed that the higher quality classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Over the last 20 years the overall market has been very strong and I believe it will continue to grow.  Certain classic cars prices are on the rise and others are on the decline.  It’s all about supply and demand, not about a good or bad economy.  The classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people want but there aren’t many on the market for sale.  The classic cars that are on the decline are the cars that a lot of people don’t want anymore and there’s many on the market for sale. Of course, if the car is a rare model and spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. Desirable factory correct classic cars that are documented with matching numbers always make solid investments.  Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character and there worth what people are willing to pay. 

Prior to this business I was just a blue collar guy who was working full time at Viti Mercedes Benz located in Tiverton, RI. They’re recognized for being one of the best Mercedes Benz dealerships in the country for customer service.  I was very passionate about classic cars and trucks so I decided to sell them part time.  Although I had my used car dealer’s license I didn’t have my own dealership.  Overall things were going just fine but my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership.  I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership.  I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen which required using my family’s savings and acquiring loans such as a home equity line of credit.  I also took on a lot of overhead that I didn’t have before.  The bottom line is I went all in.  Do you think I would’ve done all that if I didn’t think the classic car and truck market wasn’t going to remain strong?  “I’m putting my money where my mouth is”. Known as, “The Art Rod”, this spectacular 1942 Ford Pickup is truly a one-a-kind piece of rolling artwork. It was awarded “Best of Show” at the Hot Rod Magazine Show in 2018 and    “1st Place” at the Grand National Roadster Show in 2019. Both of these awards are included. It was also featured on the 2020 Classic Street Rods calendar which is also included. The truck was first built in 2006 by Kirk Brown of Caledonia, Michigan. It was featured on the cover Rod and Custom magazine in April 2008. It was a Rod and Custom Feature Car and labeled as the “Homebuilt Hauler”. The article covered four pages and the magazine is included. As quoted in Rod and Custom magazine, “The finished truck brings the element of the rough and raw but has the finesse of a WWII aircraft with its many aviation-inspired details.” The truck eventually found itself in the hands of classic vehicle enthusiast Bret Blackburn of Huntington Beach, California. Bret collaborated with Platinum Black Rods and Custom in Huntington Beach, California to re-build the “Homebuilt Hauler” and transform it into what would become “The Art Rod”. Bret understood he owned a very specially designed truck and wanted to take it to the next level. The build was completed in 2018. The mission was accomplished which is evident in the outstanding quality and prestigious awards it’s achieved. “The Art Rod” is extremely well designed and detailed throughout. There are 621 lightening holes throughout the entire truck as an example. The original 1942 Ford Cab was chopped 6- inches at the front and an inch less in the rear, and then channeled 6- inches. The original firewall was removed and replaced with a 1937 firewall. The lower cowl sections were modified. It sports a 1949 International grille shell which compliments the design perfectly. The bed was shortened and left open to display the custom craftsmanship. The body was re-worked for straight lines and tight gaps. The doors open and close very nicely. The sun visor, grille shell, headlights, engine air cleaners, cowl, cab, side covers, fuel tank and bed were painted in Golden Bronze Metallic which is a stunning color. The high quality paint has been detailed to a brilliant shine. All of the custom pin striping throughout was done by Mike Donner and Von Hot Rod. The exterior was outfitted with custom features such as a narrowed metal sun visor with brushed trim, chrome driver’s side mirror, new tinted glass, custom headlight buckets, side covers and tail lights. The tail lights started as Dodge rings and then were redesigned into art objects that are displayed on the bed. Hand formed  brake lights are built into the bed. Details such as the license plate light are fantastic. The truck sit’s on 1936 Ford steel wheels that were painted in Jeep Rescue Green Metallic and Vegas Gold Metallic with chrome bullet lug nuts. The wheels are wrapped with new Firestone Deluxe Champion tires that are 4.50-16 on the front and 7.00-16 on the rear. The attention to detail carries into the hand built interior. The interior was first painted in Golden Bronze Metallic to match the exterior. The headliner, steering wheel, door panels, seats and transmission tunnel were upholstered in Charcoal. The aircraft inspired seats have adjustable backs and under seat storage. It was outfitted with custom features such as the rear view mirror, 1960 Chevrolet dash, Stewart Warner gauges, control box with switches, 3-spoke steering wheel, door top trim, door hardware, shifter, air vents, aluminum floors and pedals. The air ride controls are located in the glove box. It’s even equipped with a cell phone charger under the dash. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The firewall was painted in a dark shade of white which highlights the entire bay. The Art Rod is powered by a rebuilt 1949 Ford 239in 8BA Flathead V8 engine. The engine was rebuilt during the first build by Todd Currier at the Hot Rod and Custom Supply in Shelbyville, Michigan. The engine block was painted Jeep Rescue Green Metallic that matches the wheels, master brake cylinder, driveshaft and rear shocks. The engine was dressed with Edelbrock heads, Fenton intake, Gearwork risers with 4-Ford 94 carburetors, custom air cleaners, Powermaster Powergen polished alternator, Mallory Uni-Lite distributor and coil. The engine starts and runs excellent. The radiator is cooled by an oversized electric fan that was placed in front. The engine breathes through custom headers that were heat wrapped and Harley Davidson baffles. The engine is coupled to a rebuilt Chevrolet C10 T-5 manual 5-speed transmission and new Speedway 10 ½ clutch that both work excellent. The power is transferred through a custom driveshaft to the Frankland Quick-Change rear end with floating axles. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. It has a 2x4 inch rectangular tube on a 124- inch wheelbase; the frame is kicked up 14- inches in the rear and 4- inches at the front where it is tapered and pinched. Custom 28-inch ladder bars locate the rear axle, along with cantilevers connected auxiliary shocks. The heavy duty quarter Elliptic springs that appear to suspend the axle act as control arms, mounting to a cross member that supports the fuel tank and while it appears to be attached to the chassis rails, that cross member pivots, meaning that when the airbags are inflated at the forward end of the springs, the springs pivot about the cross member, pushing down on the axle at their rear end and so raising the truck, at the same time causing the fuel tank to rotate slightly. A Corvette sway bar and pan hard rod was added. The front suspension is equally as impressive, not least because it’s so hard to hide airbags on the front of a fenderless truck. The solution was to hang them from a cross member behind the radiator, their lower mounts attached to a bar extending between the split wishbones. Another pair of quarter Elliptic springs and tube shocks provides bounce and damping. An F1 steering box was converted to cowl operation with a one-off pitman arm. It’s equipped with 1939 Ford drum brakes with Buick finned aluminum covers on the front. The air compressor tank and compressor are nicely placed in the rear bed section. The air compressor system and new red Odyssey Extreme battery are both concealed in separate compartments in the rear bed section as well. Doing a restoration is hard enough when you have OEM and aftermarket parts. However, doing a restoration and making everything by hand is another story. So much more time goes into designing and fabricating as you go. There are countless hours and dollars invested in this one-of-a-kind street rod.  The Art Rod is the ultimate piece of rolling art work that will be admired forever.

Unfortunately most classic vehicles that are being advertised for sale by dealers, private parties and auctions aren't exactly what are being advertised for sale.  This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different.  The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages.  Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration.  An example would be a classic vehicle that's  being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc.  Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored.  There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components.  The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale.  A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly!
